Programs at CBH School

CBH School Sundays

Our Sunday school is richly open, friendly, and welcoming. We teach traditional Jewish topics (from holidays to Jewish ethics, to Jewish culture and history, to Hebrew reading/recitation skills) in a progressive and inclusive way that is relevant to the lifestyles of many modern Jewish/Interfaith families. We also create a safe space for students and families of all backgrounds and sexual orientations to learn about their heritage and make friends.

We encourage a sense of community and connection through our school. This includes our Family Minyan service every Sunday morning, from 9:30am-10am. During this time, families all sit/stand together, participate in singing the morning prayers, and hear some inspiring words or stories that are related to a Jewish theme. Family Minyan is usually led by either Rabbi Gottfried or Rabbi Josh.

Additionally, our Parent Engagement Team coordinates parent learning/discussion opportunities, so that parents are enriched as well. Last year, some of our parent discussion topics included winter holiday traditions (including navigating the winter holidays as an Interfaith family); talking to your children about race; and talking to your children about gender/sexual orientation (including how to best show your support if/when your child comes out to you).

CBH Community School serves grades K-7th, and feeds directly into both our B'nei Mitzvah Program and our Madrichim Program. We also offer programming for children ages 1-5 (please see our Parent n' Me program information, on this page).

Currently, we are using the Institute of Southern Jewish Life Sunday school curriculum, as we work on replacing it with a customized curriculum that is being written specifically for our school. If you have more questions about our curriculum or teaching style, please feel free to reach out to Kate Hennessey at 404-315-6446 or

CBH Parent n' Me

CBH Parent n' Me is on hiatus until 2021.

Stay healthy and safe - we miss you!

We are excited to announce that our CBHCS Parent ‘n Me program is not just for Pre-K kids any more: It is now open to children 1-4 years-old!

Each session will happen during our Sunday school hours, and will include time for parents and their children to interact and connect together, as well as time for parents to learn with the rabbi, while their children are being supervised and having fun separately.

We invite your children to come play and learn, while meeting friends in our loving, diverse, and inclusive Jewish community. It’s also a great place to connect with other parents of young children, who appreciate CBH’s values of friendship, creativity, and social justice. CBH Parent n’ Me is just as much about giving our children a positive connection to their Jewish community as it is introducing them to fundamental Jewish teachings and culture. We also put an emphasis on experiential, sensory, and movement-based learning.
